OUR PROCESS

Walloon Lake Winery blends years of tradition with cold hardy grape varieties and modern winemaking techniques to create a unique and delectable product, garnishing many awards along the way. Our wine is all produced and bottled right here on our own property, something we take great pride in. We enjoy the variety that each harvest brings us, and do our best to preserve that intrinsic quality in the product we create each year.

WINEMAKING

Winemaker Matt Killman brings extensive experience with our unique, cold hardy grape varieties to the winemaking process. Having worked his entire career with these fine grapes, he understands the nuances and balance required to tame the acidity and retain the fresh and fruity characteristics we enjoy so much.

IN THE CELLAR

The cellar is a means to an ends... Taking high quality fruit and turning it into the delicious elixir of wine. We are proud to make and bottle all of our wine on site, right next to the tasting room!

VINEYARD

We do our best to keep the vines in balance, with a focus on quality and even ripening. Our unique glacial soils and proximity to Walloon Lake and Lake Michigan make this one of the prime vineyard sites in the Tip of the Mitt AVA. Our vineyards are farmed regeneratively, with Organic soil amendments, vine care, and no herbicides or insecticides.

AT HARVEST

We're lucky to work with our own vineyard, as well as a variety of small growers in the area to bring a unique and delightful assortment of options to our wine lineup. Harvest means coordinating all of these picks and processing them in due time to keep quality high.
